Astro Gaming A50 Headset Review

Astro Gaming have become a big name within the gaming headset market. Their ability to bring high quality sound and innovation to a highly competitive market showcases their brilliance. This spans back to their roots in which they designed gaming tech for other brands.

The Astro Gaming A50 wireless headset is their flagship model and has found itself becoming the choice of many popular ESports players across the world. Showing its ability to perform on the pro circuit as gamers look to get that winning edge.

Feature-rich, the Astro A50 headset provides gamers with an array of upgraded levels of quality compared to cheaper gaming headsets. The A50’s put audio control into your hands, giving you the power to customise your gaming experience to put you deeper into the action.

Complete with precision microphone to provide a clear and low background noise between you and your fellow gamers, quick switch mute button and Game/Voice balancer. There really is no better audio experience, putting you into the game like never before in true 7.1 dolby surround sound.

With a clear and concise need for a crisp communication between you and other gamers, there have been questions raised about the microphone quality associated with the A50 model, with some noting that failure to adjust the settings can result in a poor quality sound, showing that they aren’t always ready to perform to their optimum level straight out of the box, meaning that you will have to get introduced to the settings app which can be tricky to master if you have never used one of them before.

Presented with an array of customisable settings, it can be hard to know what levels are best suited to you and so it should be noted that alteration of the sound settings does take a little work, especially if you are thinking about using these both for the Xbox One and PC.

Although not always ready for optimum sound straight out of the box, getting your settings right will most definitely give you an ear to ear smile as you look to lose yourself in your chosen gaming title, whether that be crossing over the front line into a battle zone or putting the pedal to the metal as you tear up the tarmac.

Astro Gaming claim that their A50 gaming headset is the ‘Most Immersive wireless headset on the market’ and you will be pleased to know that the quality of the A50’s doesn’t stop there, with the over-ear design widely recognised to be one of the most comfortable on the market, allowing you to really get those marathon style gaming sessions

Turtle Beach Elite Pro Tournament Headset Review

The Turtle Beach Elite Pro tournament gaming headset is at the height of their offering and has been created with eSports gaming in mind, making sure that the gamer is able to experience the full extent of the action in a mind blowing level of audio definition in 7.1 surround sound.

Used by many professional gamers on the competitive and tournament scene, the Turtle Beach Elite Pro excels at taking your experience to the upper levels, giving you a clean and crisp sound and vocal celebration that is widely desired by gamers looking to get the upper edge on their opponents.

Made with the highest level of quality materials, those marathon gaming sessions have never been more comfortable thanks to their ‘ComForTec fit system’, with the headset ergonomically designed for comfort as you get lost in the action, whatever the genre you prefer.

With superior sound depth coming through the headset, it does seem that there could potentially be something to be cautious about, with the microphone thought to be very delicate, so taking care of your headset is vital, although remember that as long as you register your purchase with Turtle Beach, you will be given a 12 month manufacturers warranty against most issues that occur without you causing it.

One of the biggest selling points on the Turtle Beach Elite Pro tournament gaming headset is the level of comfort that you experience, the chance to be able to adjust the headset seemingly further than any of their rivals is a definite reason to consider making this your next purchase.

SteelSeries Siberia X800 Headset Review

The SteelSeries Siberia X800 gaming headset as we have already mentioned may not be from one of the most recognised brands in the market right now but their level of quality throughout is certainly making them an upcoming brand that has more than enough power to rival the big guns.

With sound and audio experience paramount to gamers just like you, SteelSeries have certainly surpassed expectation when it comes to the level and quality of sound that you get while wearing the Siberia X800 headset, making use of next generation drivers to produce a much deep level of sound during your gaming session.

Combating a common issue that many gamers have brought to light previously, the SteelSeries Siberia X800 has been created with a retractable microphone, eliminating the need for you to have it prominent while gaming on your own.

As these are wireless, the battery life of the headset is important if you are going to be able to get lost in the battle or on the open road and that is why we have to highlight that a full charge of a single battery is good for what we believed to have been roughly 8 hours in reality, however the fact that the SteelSeries guys provide you with two rechargeable Li-Ion batteries certainly cuts out that issue for us in the most part.

The ear cushions within the headset are comfortable and sit nicely over the ear but there are mentions from gamers that are questioning how long they will last when it comes to drowning out external, non-gaming related noise due to them being made from memory foam material – We guess this is something that you would only have to worry about well in the future but you do get a warranty as long as you register the product with SteelSeries on purchase.

An underdog challenger for what could easily have taken the title of being the best gaming headset for Xbox One users in 2017, ticking so many of the boxes that we love about being able to lose yourself in a gaming environment and definitely one that you guys should consider if you have fallen out of love with the ‘bigger boys’ in the market.

Turtle Beach 800X Wireless Headset Review

Once again Turtle Beach have created a monster with their Turtle Beach 800X gaming headset, giving you the added bonus of being completely wireless and even incorporating a hidden microphone to keep your vision completely on the game at hand.

Designed for gamers that want to be able to get lost in the action, the 800X wireless headset for Xbox One comes complete with multiple profile memory, meaning that you can preset a number of different audio configurations into the headset to get the most from your gaming sessions, wherever you may be.

Continuing in their mission to deliver unbelievable sound quality and comfort for those longer gaming sessions that we all love to locked in, Turtle Beach have again surpassed their own high standards with their quality of build this time around.

Although the headset is fantastically made and the gaming audio is crisp and packed full over various levels of depth, for those of you that enjoy being able to listen to the action through both your headset and your monitor, you could find that you will experience echoes caused by the microphone picking up the sounds as you play.

That said, the fact that you are dealing with a completely wireless headset here is certainly a selling point on its own, coming complete with everything you need and not even needing a receiver add on to put a voice to your party, instead it is ready for action as soon as you take it out of the box.

We have seen that some gamers feel that the audio quality of the Turtle Beach 800X isn’t as good as they would have expected, claiming that they have tried to get on with them but couldn’t, our testing gave us a breath taking experience and we are well onboard with this one, leaving us with the challenging task of ranking this against its Turtle Beach Elite Pro counterpart.

Astro Gaming A40 Headset with MixAmp Pro Review

Astro Gaming feature once again in our list of the best gaming headsets for the Xbox One in 2017, with their Astro Gaming A40 gaming headset and MixAmp finding itself within strong company and we believe rightly so.

Taking their successful launch of their Astro Gaming A50 wireless headset, the UK based company realised that there was a space in the market for a slightly downgraded version of their popular model, slightly reducing their features rather than the quality of sound and gaming experience that they had to offer.

Our choice has been made based on the A40 headset being coupled with their MixAmp, providing even more encapsulating depth to the gaming audio than you would get from the headset alone, even though the level of audio that is obtained is certainly enough to have it considered alone.

Although the sound quality is well above the standard that some of the more popular cheaper alternatives offer, we feel that with options such as the others found within our list, it wasn’t strong enough alone to feature inside our top 5 gaming headsets of 2017, combine it with the Astro Gaming MixAmp and that’s a whole different story.

We are aware that some people have stated that the microphone can become a little hard to hear if you haven’t configured the headset correctly, so suggest that you take a little bit of time to ensure that you are happy with the settings you have straight out of the box, otherwise you will have to try master their app to alter the values to the point of your personal preference.

Astro Gaming headsets have become the go-to for some of the better known professional eSports gaming teams and the quality that you experience during your gameplay will show you why that is the case, but if you are able to stretch your budget just a little bit further we would suggest that you take a look at the Astro Gaming A50 as an alternative.
